In my kitchen, there are true signs of summer.
I have tomatoes, stored on the window ledge to stop the refrigerator from cutting their flavour.
They make a great base for a simple weekend lunch (pictured below with kale and basil, and sides of potato bread and apricots).
In my kitchen there are strawberries, and rather a lot of them at that.
I also have blackberries, which before this year I hadn't had fresh. They are incredible and I struggled not to eat a large punnet in one sitting (with great restraint I managed it over two sittings). The fact it only cost £1 ($2) made things even more incredible. England is a great country for berries!
I've also had apricots and peaches, which are so delectably sweet - nothing like their winter counterparts.
Slightly heartier are some new-to-me vegan products from Tesco.
The nut cutlets have been around for a while, but it took a special offer for me to try them. I wasn't a great fan, but did love the sweet potato falafel. I like having packs like this in the freezer for emergency mid-week meals.
Tesco has also added vegan fromage frais to their range, although from the packaging I think it is aimed at children! I was hoping it would be like Australian Fruche, but it's closer to yoghurt. It's creamy and delicious semi-frozen though.
My kitchen has also seen my first green smoothie for the season...
...and a few tubs of Almond Dream ice cream. Waitrose sells them, although they are rather pricey. There is a Waitrose near Mr Bite's work so if I'm lucky he brings me tubs home. This praline crunch variety was bought on a joint shopping trip and is the first time I've had the flavour. It's great!
